LEDC Film Office
With the Canadian film and television industry expanding, and a variety of small to medium-sized Ontario cities looking to get into the game as shoot locations, the London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), with funding from the City of London, was seeking to position the newly minted Film London office with a creative visual brand and tagline to help attract national and international productions to the Forest City. In this highly competitive and lucrative market, with potential for significant economic development and tourism revenue and spin-offs, LEDC needed a dynamic and bold identity to stand out within a noisy, global market. They turned to sagecomm, an ongoing marketing partner, to help them Get Reel.
With a quick market entry as goal one, the project began with a rapid research and discovery process, which looked at the office’s value proposition and industry-wide best practices. Following some strategic visual exploration of imagery, symbolism and colour palettes, four distinct potential visual directions were put forward, each with a unique manifestation of the value proposition and clever customized tagline options. The final selection - Film London | One Stop. For Reel., a bold and unique take on traditional film symbolism - was packaged into a comprehensive brand system, complete with a variety of iterations for different use cases and a vibrant colour palette to help boost this new economic development priority with production companies around the world.
